Mission Church of the Nazarene is a community of believers that has been serving the San Diego area since 1915.

Our Background

We are one of thousands of churches in more than 160 countries that collectively form the Church of the Nazarene. We are passionate about reaching the world for Christ and living lives that are totally devoted to Him.

The Church of the Nazarene is an evangelical denomination with more than one million members world wide. The ministries of the church include global missions, compassionate ministries, individual local churches, and a number of educational institutions, including Point Loma Nazarene University right here in San Diego.

Our Beliefs

These are the beliefs Nazarenes hold to be true:

• We believe in one God-the-Father, Son and Holy Spirit (three distinct persons sharing a common nature).
• We believe that God has inspired the Old and New Testament Scriptures and that they contain everything we need to know to be saved and to live as followers of Jesus Christ.
• We believe that all humans are born in sin, and subject to commit acts of sin.
• We believe that those who refuse to confess their sins and follow Jesus Christ are lost and without hope.
• We believe that Jesus Christ is able to save everyone from their sins; that everyone who confesses their sins and follows the Lord Jesus Christ is forgiven, born again, and set free from the power of sin.
• We believe that after men and women are born again they may live lives that reflect the character of God (become holy).
• We believe that a person can know their sins are forgiven and that their lives reflect the character of God as the Holy Spirit confirms this in their heart.
• We believe that Jesus is coming again, that the dead will be raised, and that all humanity will stand accountable before God.

The Church of the Nazarene is a Protestant Christian church in the Wesleyan-Holiness tradition, tracing its roots to an anniversary date of 1908. It was founded to spread the message of scriptural holiness (Christlike living) across the lands. Today the Church of the Nazarene is located in more than 160 world areas.
